- NMA Urges Prompt Congressional Action on Omnibus Jobs Bill
September 18, 2012
National Mining Association (NMA) President and CEO Hal Quinn issued the following statement today as the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to consider H.R. 3409, “The Coal Miner Employment and Domestic Energy Infrastructure Protection Act”:
“Mining communities and the families and businesses that depend on affordable electricity will welcome prompt congressional passage of this legislation designed to stimulate job creation and turn the economy around. This bill combines a set of measures that has been approved in the House by members of both parties.
“The bill will lift the burden of regulations and coal permit policies that now weigh on U.S. coal producers and their employees and stifles employment opportunities for tens of thousands of jobless Americans. A vote for this legislation is a vote for jobs, affordable electricity and keeping America competitive.”
