WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Mining Association (NMA) today issued the following statement from Rich Nolan, NMA President and CEO, in support of White House efforts to strengthen minerals supply chains.
“Today’s announcement continues the steady drumbeat from this administration that we need to do more and do better when it comes to securing our mineral supply chains. U.S. mining adheres to the highest environmental, safety and labor standards in the world yet, for decades, our supply chains have increasingly looked abroad for the very minerals we could be sourcing here at home. That foreign focus has weakened our global competitiveness and constrained U.S. manufacturing while depriving Americans of would-be high-paying, high-quality domestic jobs. The American Battery Initiative’s commitment to support faster and fairer permitting for projects that build the domestic supply chain could meaningfully unlock our domestic mining potential.”
