Sustainability is a crucial pillar of mining, from the producers to the equipment manufacturers. That’s why companies like Draslovka are investing in green technologies. Currently the world’s largest supplier of sodium cyanide to the gold mining industry, Draslovka is also investing in its patented Glycine Leaching Technologies to bring major improvements to ore processing in nickel, cobalt, copper, and gold.
Glycine is a non-toxic, biodegradable amino acid whose most common use is as a dietary supplement for humans and animals. Its key advantages as a leaching reagent are that it is recyclable and highly selective of certain metals, meaning it does not leach non-target metals. This allows for a variety of improvements in financial and environmental outcomes, including eliminating the need for smelting of nickel/cobalt concentrates.
“Glycine Leaching Technology is an opportunity for step change improvement across a number of metals,” said Draslovka Mining Solutions Business Director Jimmy Stockbridge. “We’re excited to bring this technology to the mining industry at a time when national interest in critical metals is accelerating and the industry’s importance is finally being recognized.”
